Nos Camaro.

Nos energy sponsored xfinity…

Loosely based of an early decade cup design.

Purple Coyote.

Royal purple sponsored xfinity…

Spontaneous idea that worked itself out in my head and evolved to finished design in around a day. It ups the enthusiasm a bit when the sponsor is a product you personally have familiarity with. I’ve used purple synthetic to the exclusion of everything else on the market for years now – and yes in fact (it does pour purple from the container thanks to a dye additive) although it drains the familiar black as with anything else…

Nvidia Cuda.

Nvidia inspired xfinity…

I’ve always run nvidia processors over the years and had been plotting around the concept of a nvidia themed car at some point. Finally got around to a concept design based around the nvidia cuda core architecture. Of course the cross-theme being the plymouth muscle car, so naturally the candidate model had to be a mopar of some type. In this instance the xfinity mod challenger…

It’s on the reworked challenger template with a different grille graphic more distinguishing the face of the retro (or concept) cuda designs that have been seen around everywhere for ages. I believe the iconic ‘Mr. Norms’ offers (or did offer) a conversion for standard challengers to replicate an ‘unofficial’ cuda badged challenger. The car still retains the dodge branding call outs keeping the car from full on fantasy brand status.

Halloween Machine.

Halloween themed xfinity ride…

This idea sort of evolved into it’s own seasonal project of sorts combining  cheesy cult seventies horror along with a 3D horror feature theme into the designs. The initial flagship for this being my phantasm themed challenger from a few Halloweens ago.

Inspiration for this year is somewhat of another obscure cult film – 1977’s ‘The Car’

I first saw this film back in 1980 or so once it got to television on one of the three VHF channels on an ancient zenith set. Memorable because it was terrifying back then as a small child. The basic plot revolved around an evil mysterious black car invading a small rural town and running down unsuspecting victims (essentially Jaws on wheels)few scenes from memory (spoilers) –

about midway through the film one of the main characters is literally run down in her living room late at night by the pouncing car – it helps the plot along I guess when your backyard appears to be an open two-lane roadway (of course lost on me at the time) First-person ‘Jaws’ perspective from inside the car was always done with a simple but creepily effective amber filter on the screen. The finale when the car explodes over a cliff an evil face is formed out of the resulting fireball…

The latter scene I remembered as jaw dropping. Although returning to it years later remastered in HD (not so much) – Overall a somewhat cheesy (at times campy) absurd 70s horror trope (but good times)…

As far as this nr2003 design, I heavily edited the backdrop and characters from some cover art and then modified it all into stereoscopic 3D for the body art. Template is the latest of the mustang set (one of three for the xfinity mod)
